The Borough of Lakehurst is a civil service community. Lakehurst has a residency requirement for the position of full-time police officer. This means you must be a resident of the Borough of Lakehurst prior to employment. Being a civil service municipality, Lakehurst operates under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Civil Service Commission (CSC). The New Jersey CSC regulates the employment, tenure, and discharge of Lakehurst employees. Visit nj.gov/csc under “Job Announcements” for more information on the testing process.

UPCOMING TEST ANNOUNCEMENT

The Ocean County Police Chief’s Association is holding an upcoming entrance exam on August 17, 2021.

Lakehurst Police Department plans to use the results of this test for future Class II Special Police Officer positions.

Alternate Crossing Guard

The Lakehurst Police Department is accepting applications for the position of alternate crossing guard.  The alternate crossing guard is an “On Call” position and is used to supplement shifts for when a full-time crossing guard is out.  Training and uniforms are provided by the police department.  Applicants must be 18-years-old and are required to pass a background check and a medical exam.  The position pays $13.00 an hour.
