The Lakehurst Police Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to utilize resources through community partnership and financial support to enhance the services provided by the Lakehurst Police Department. The Foundation is committed to assisting and improving the performance and effectiveness of the Lakehurst Police Department to better service our community and improve the public safety and quality of life for all residents.
The Lakehurst Police Foundation was formed under the direction of retired Police Chief Eric Higgins in cooperation with local community leaders. The foundation, which is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was established to enhance police training, provide funding for equipment, and to provide various programs to benefit the children of Lakehurst. Each year the Police Foundation provides funding for the Annual National Night Out, the DARE program, and the annual Bicycle Rodeo at Lake Horicon.
The Foundation is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors which is comprised of local community leaders and Chief Matthew Kline. The Board of Directors is responsible for oversight of the foundations business including fundraising, budgeting, and the distribution of funds for causes that fall within the mission statement of the foundation. The Foundation is primarily funded by our annual golf outing held each year at the Pine Barrens Golf Club in Jackson. In addition to our annual golf outing, the foundation has entered into a contract with American Recycle Technology Inc. to deploy clothing bins at key locations throughout Lakehurst.
